Natural & Authentic Family Portrait Photography
Location Family Photoshoot
Hello and welcome. I am Bedford portrait photographer covering Bedfordshire and beyond. Location photography is by far my favourite discipline because I love the incredible selection of beautiful backgrounds on offer. The variety is just not available in a studio environment and results in creative portraits and beautiful photographs. Being outside also tends to be a much more relaxed experience for a client and photographer. Therefore family sessions tend to be great fun. Most importantly natural light is a powerful feature in itself and a vital ingredient in the creation of beautiful, timeless images.
“Lifestyle photography is a kind of photography that mainly aims to capture people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner. The primary goal is to tell stories about people’s lives or to inspire people in different times.” – Wikipedia
Location Portrait Photography – Principles
Generally speaking, portraits and location photography are the staple of every lifestyle portrait photographer’s work. Therefore it follows that great interaction and a bond between the clients and the photographer who presses the shutter is of paramount importance. Of course I do understand that the thought of being professionally photographed can seem an intimidating experience when you have never met before. However, it is my job to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible during the shoot so when we arrive on location I tend to spend a while with you so you can feel 100% natural and relaxed before we commence the session.
The location photography session should take about 2 hours. You can expect a mixture of directed/posed shots and, once you relax, some more candid moments. This is when the true magic happens and I will work hard to capture it.
Please bear in mind, dependent on various circumstances these indicated time lengths might slightly change in order to achieve the best possible results for you.
You may wish to visit my Portrait Gallery to have a better feel of the kind of work I offer. You might also be interested in visiting the Wedding and Engagement Shoot galleries. To read a bit more about my approach to family photography click here.

Just the beginning…
Following the shoot I will work hard to provide you with a set of beautiful photographs in digital format. Shortly after the post-production stage is finished you will receive a set of your images in digital format presented in an online gallery.
My approach to pricing is very transparent and is based on my time and consists of an hourly shoot rate and an hourly post production rate (in ratio 1:2). You are welcome to find out more about my portrait photography pricing here.
Similarly I highly recommend visiting the portrait products section of the site. Certainly you may wish to frame or order prints of some of the stand out shots from the session.
Finally we need to cover one more important area – what to wear to a location photoshoot? It is important to understand that some colours works better combined together than others. But fear not, there is a simple and tested way of determining perfect colour combination. Please visit my blog post referring to this which should give you guidance and help you make your styling decisions before the session.
